Hello!
Well as a survivor of PNI with extreme anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder and subsequent depression thrown in... I know just how much techniques around 're-framing' negative in to positives has helped me on my journey of recovery and healing. I am still using positive affirmations to this day, and I'm sure I won't stop using them, ever. The proof is in the pudding as they say. This is not to say that the process is easy. It does take time, patience and persistance to change the way we think, especially about ourselves. I have written before that the book "You Can Heal your Life" by Louise Hay, really was inspirational to me. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but there is so much out there that works along these lines. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is also a mainstream treatment that works with the same principles. Can this many people be wrong?
The basic premise of cognitive behavioral therapy is that our thoughts—not external events—affect the way we feel. In other words, it’s not the situation you’re in that determines how you feel, but your perception of the situation. www.helpguide.org/mental/anxiety_therapy.htm
With all that in mind I have decided to start a little feel good project. I am going to post up one positive affirmation per week. Write it down, print it out, or just come and visit the page here and repeat the affirmation at least three times over. The more you do it during the week the better! Let me know how you go if you like.
Here we go... Repeat after me...
(P.S. It's OK to still feel bad sometimes though. It's better to acknowledge the 'bad' feelings too so we can let them pass. I just wanted to say that. Take care, Kia x)
